Standard rated-flange screening using ASME B16.5/B16.47 references, material derating, and external-load interaction.
Qualification Readiness
ASME lists a 2025 BPVC VIII-2 edition. This calculator currently implements only the supplied 2019, 2021, and 2023 source basis. A checkbox is not objective evidence: each assertion also requires a drawing, MTR, procedure, calculation, test, or review reference.
Half cross-sections drawn to a common scale. Standard dimensions are generated screening estimates; compact dimensions are catalog values. Verify against controlled tables before design use.
The downloadable report captures the current input state, derived constants, governing equations used by this prototype, pass/fail checks, assumptions, and objective evidence needed for independent review.
- Open the report in a browser to review the rendered math notation.
- Print or save the report to PDF for the formal calculation file.
- Attach controlled ASME tables, material certificates, gasket data, and bolt data before certification.
- 4.16 evaluates operating and gasket seating conditions.
- External tensile axial force and net-section bending moment are included with pressure end load effects.
- Strength and flange rotation rigidity checks both govern custom flange designs.
- Standard ASME B16.5/B16.47 selections are constrained to the implemented publication scope; unsupported classes remain unavailable until controlled rating data are loaded.
- FlangeTec® compact flanges require an exact supplied catalog row; nearest-size or nearest-class substitution is prohibited.
Automated clients can read the live normalized state from
#agentCalculationState or use the static manifest and
JSON Schema. A screening pass must never be interpreted as
certification, approval, or Code compliance.
